ScareMap is a free map that lists haunted houses, haunt farms, ghost tours and haunted places across the US for people planning a scare.
What ScareMap does
The live haunt map
The map shows 324 haunts as pins near you. Tap a pin to see the haunt, its ratings and directions.
Haunt pages by state and city
Every haunt has its own page, grouped by state and city. Each city page lists every haunt in that city, so you can plan a night in one place.
Two ratings for every haunt
Visitors rate quality with 1 to 5 stars and scare intensity with a 1 to 5 skull meter. A gentle hayride and an extreme haunt can both earn 5 stars and still score far apart on scares.
Add a haunt
Anyone can drop a pin for a haunt that is missing, including home haunts in a front yard. Photos upload with location data removed.
What makes ScareMap different
Open year-round, not only October
198 of the 324 listings are open year-round: ghost tours, haunted hotels, horror escape rooms and haunted places. The rest are seasonal Halloween haunts.
Scare intensity is rated on its own
A single star rating cannot tell a great family haunt from a great extreme one. ScareMap rates scare intensity separately, so you can match a haunt to who is going.
No account needed
You can browse, rate, review and add a haunt without signing up or giving an email address.
Every pin is checked against map data
The ScareMap team checks each researched listing with OpenStreetMap reverse geocoding. A pin that lands outside its stated city is cut.
No ads and no paid placement
No haunt pays to be listed or to rank higher.

Jon Gouveia, founder
Jon has worked in enterprise SEO for more than 20 years, for Lands’ End, Foot Locker and Chase. He started PixelCove LLC in Andover, Massachusetts, in 2025.

How ScareMap works
Where listings come from
The ScareMap team researched the starting listings from public web sources, with AI research tools and a separate verification pass. Visitors add new haunts from the map.
How ratings and reviews work
Ratings and reviews come only from visitors. Each device can leave one review per haunt. ScareMap does not write, buy or edit reviews, and it does not remove a review for being negative.
Photos
Photos come from visitors. Some listings show an AI-generated illustration as a cover image until a visitor adds a real photo. These illustrations are not photos of the venue.
Reports and corrections
Every haunt page has a Report button. Reports go to the ScareMap team, which hides listings that are wrong, closed or unsafe. You can also email hello@scaremap.app.
How ScareMap makes money
ScareMap earns no revenue today. It shows no ads, runs no affiliate links and sells no placement.
